Getting into the Swing of Things...

After almost two weeks of re-discovering Melbourne, we are relaxed and contented in this lively urban space. Several trips to the NGV have resulted in planning what we will finally get round to viewing. There's no point in rushing in a city that has so much street art, colourful graffiti and seasoned performers. The weather, a relief after the chill of Dublin, has made it a pleasure to remain out of doors as much as possible. Many others seem to have the same idea... The Trapeze

Je Suis Confuse...

New times, new places. Here in Melbourne everything seems exotic, highly coloured. Walking the the suburbs of Kew and Boroondara yesterday was a revelation. Two parrots communicated vigorously from overhead and made fine subjects for photography. Parrots We visited the Boroondara Library, learned much about the Irish in Australia, notably Sir William Stawell, who was second Chief Justice of Victoria in the Nineteenth Century, and discovered that there is a Twitter site for literary enthusiasts and readers. A very full day, leaving me with a head buzzing with new information which has yet to be digested. Can I tell a lorikeet from a parakeet? Not yet...
