Preparing for Life Indoors

Over the years the Irish weather has loomed in this blog. Every October we start getting the house warm, bringing in logs, checking heating systems.

The latest hysteria about global warming has ensured a veritable plague of new systems where houses are being insulated. It's hard to tell if they are necessary... or even more to the point, if they actually make much difference.

The old Irish cottage had very thick walls, to ensure that the house was warm in winter and cool in Summer. Since the seasons are now very chilly all the year round, it is possible that by making walls thicker one may be insulating cold air indoors.

The tried and tested trick of putting on an extra jumper seems to be the best option. Candlelight
