Thanks for making me laugh out loud.
I heard some old boffin on the radio going on about how "we" (the over-fifties) don't speak the same language as "them" (presumably the under-fifties).
My post was not based on cynicism, but on a very real fear of being trapped in some muffled linguistic space with "him".
Ahh. Yes, I can see that - I have no desire to be trapped with one of those people, either. I think they're what happens to the "cool kids" in high school: they're forever after trying to create a clique, so that they can be cool once again. I shun them, mostly because they're pitiful. :)
